    Sri Mayapur-Chandrodaya

The Temple of the Vedic Planetarium Tribute Song

    Sri Mayapur-Chandrodaya

The rising moon of Lord Caitanya

    of Sridama Mayapur

    Verse 1

It is his Grace that our world needs now

Extending the light of Love of Godhead to every corner of the world!

    [Krishna Prema]

It is this place upon which we receive this task sublime

To broadcast the holy names around

    Bridge to chorus:

    [Srila] Prabhupada said:

"The more you help develop Mayapur,

The more Lord Caitanya will bless your area of the world,

    And it will flourish"

    Prabhupada has named this temple

    Sri Mayapur-Chandrodaya

The rising moon of Lord Caitanya

    Revealing cosmic Creation

In the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium

    Sri Mayapur-Chandrodaya

The rising moon of Lord Caitanya

    Let any darkness dissipate

    As Sri Caitanya's glories disseminate.

    Verse 2

Built by the love of all devotees from around the world in so many ways.

Giving time, talent or treasury, offered selflessly.

From Sri Caitanya to Lord Nityananda the sacred order was told:

Give Krishna even to the sinners, young and old

    [Back to bridge to chorus]

    [Back to chorus]

Now let all the temples receive this grace,

    Shining from Caitanya's moon-like face;

    To re-spiritualize the world

    From this transcendental place,

    It's astonishing!

    Guitar solo

    Back to chorus

    Repeat chorus

Call and response Choruses with Hare Krishna Mahamantra

    Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

    Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

    Hare Rama Hare Rama

    Rama Rama Hare Hare

     [Fade to end]

Hello friends,

In July of 2017 I was contacted by the Communications Director of the Mayapur, India Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, Sunanda Dasa, to write a Tribute song in its honor. The purpose of the temple/planetarium is to reveal and educate people about the ancient spiritual wisdom of India (Vedic), the cosmological conceptions of this wisdom and how they are relevant to every human being on the earth. It will be the largest modern temple in India, surpassing even the size of the Taj Mahal and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

This unique and one-of-a-kind temple/planetarium is being built by Hare Krishna devotees from all over the world, offering either their time, talents or finances to construct this huge project. Sunanda Dasa's conceived plan was to glorify the temple, the Lord of the temple called Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the devotees, and the original inspirational source of the temple, the Founder and spiritual guide of the Hare Krishna Movement, His Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. He wanted to do this through music. He asked me to write a song which would be easy to sing, having a lively tune, so that anyone could easily sing along to a friendly melody in glorification.

Overwhelmed with happiness to receive such a wonderful opportunity, I prayed for inspiration to write a great song, and began reading inspirational texts sent to me by him in preparation.

In the meantime, I had also developed a close bond of friendship with Uttamasloka Dasa, a talented musician from Canada, currently living in Costa Rica, who happened to already know Sunanda well. He was particularly talented in the areas of mixing, mastering and singing. I was already contemplating collaborating with him on a musical project, and so here was the opportunity thrown into my lap. Uttamasloka Dasa naturally became the mixing and mastering engineer of the song and contributed vocal harmonies as well as lead vocals.

Within a month the first song intro was revealed, and the three of us became excited as the ideas flowed.

We continued corresponding and sharing musical ideas by E-mail over the next few months, and before long it became clear that we wanted to engage devotees from all over the world in the massive choir of the chorus that was now emerging during the composition process.

Communication was sent out to devotees and singers world-wide, who contributed by singing, recording and sending in their vocals to be included in a massive choir. Over 50 devotees from all over the world contributed multiple voices including melodies to the song chorus, harmonies, and also adding their voice to the great sound of the sacred Mahamantra chant of Hare Krishna at the final climax. We ended up with over 100 voices in total inclusive.

Live instrument players also became involved from all over the world, so that Lead Guitar, Cello, Violin, and Mrdanga drum players entered into the on-line collaboration, with studio producers helping many of the singers and musicians submit recordings to the project.

In short, by the Lord's grace upon us, the song turned out a fantastic world-wide collaboration of devotees from all cultures, walks of life, and fields of musical expertise, with all of them expecting only God's mercy upon them for their contributions.

We hope you will enjoy singing to this vibrant tune, and share the download link to it with whomever you meet. It is our fervent desire that just as it took a world of devotees to make this song, so too may the whole world with all its citizens, sing this song in a constant glorification of the magnificent and sacred Temple of the Vedic Planetarium which displays the universe in an ancient yet authentic presentation with God at it's helm.
